Vintage inspired nights out #Norwich

Whilst I enjoy vintage it's not all that I enjoy and over the last couple of years many new friends, people I've met aren't remotely vintage-like at all. I like this mix of different personalities. I like it when the world, my world is an eclectic assortment of different people with varying likes/dislikes and styles.

So I'm very  drawn to events where there is a variety of people which is why I like the Lounge events in Norwich organised by Fabulous Miss K and DJ'd by Graham, her husband aka Three Bits of Rhythm.

The music is 'vintage' but it's really an event for anyone-  people dress up or dress down as they wish - indeed at the last event I rocked up dressed down in jeans, jumper and converse but certainly didn't feel out of place. 

These events are monthly so if you're in Norwich or perhaps you are visiting keep an eye on Fabulous Miss K's Facebook page for updates. These are just a few quick edits, I'll add a proper album to the Missy Vintage Facebook page asap but hopefully this will give you and idea of these nights. The next one is Jan 10th  (details here) and I'm hoping to get a long if the Lemsip does it's job......

December on Instagram

Sometimes the only way I can remember what I was or what I did is by looking back on Instagram....... So here's a reminder for me and for you of how parts the last month of 2014 looked!

Bargain shoes....as I mentioned in a previous post I'm almost always walking these days so heels aren't always much of a feature but a glitzy flat makes that feel a bit better.

My £5 charity shop Frank Usher bargain. 

I still haven't managed to get me one of these yet but they sound so good!

I decided to rearrange the shelves. Tiny Tears has been on display in her birthday suit for over a year now. Perhaps not the most usual shelf decor but she is absolutely part of the furniture. She used to be mine which means she is quite old... 

Love this *dress from George at Asda (a post about that here) I also love the colour of the Primark tights - however they are the worst tights in the world and have to ability to stay up. Grrrr!!!

There was a lot of reading........with wine.

An outfit of the day snap where I blurred my face, but it's okay because this was really ALL about that ASOS skirt.

More shelf decor

Christmas is a bit of a funny time for me. I like it but after changes over the last few years I don't celebrate it in the same way that I used to. No tree again this year but we did exchange gifts by the light of the Mathmos lamp. The brown paper was actually from Amazon deliveries. Thrifty!

Bow ties, I love them. I have a dozens I picked up as a wholesale lot for a few pounds on Ebay ages ago. I really must wear them more.

I went out and got soaked in a down pour. Hooray for the Kings Head which offered shelter and wine. 

But then we had to leave the pub and we got REALLY soaked and cold. Fairly sure there was more wine after this once I'd exchanged that soaked through faux fur for a towel. The glamour.....

Little healthy changes of 2014

Well as one year passes and another year begins it's often a time to reflect and make future plans. 2014 has certainly seen huge changes for me as I began university (more on that in another post!) Not all the changes were that huge of course but 2014 was a year of some smaller lifestyle tweaks - perhaps not as many as there should have been, but certainly a few beneficial ones so when Simply Health got in touch to ask if I'd like to share three healthy habits I've adopted it seemed like a good chance to focus on the positive changes I have made rather than the ones I didn't. 

Walking more.....

I know this is something often mentioned by people when they talk about healthy habits but I love walking.It's perhaps easier for me as I don't have small children to transport from A to B and I live very close to the city centre but I will always walk if I can rather than jump in the car. I love walking to music and I have specific play lists for whether I'm in a rush or can take a more leisurely pace. Norwich is a lovely place to live and although I'm very centrally based it's still easy to have non urban walk. 

I'm often working from home and so try and work in a lunch time stroll even if it's just a short walk because I think it just helps re-energise you for the next work session.

I joined the gym

I joined the gym nearly a year ago and whilst I still have visits when I clock watch and generally can't be bothered, I have other days when I just don't want to leave. Life does get in the way and some weeks I don't go as often as others but I've never once regretted my membership so far. The treadmill has been my friend during many stressful times this year! I don't enjoy running outside, all I want to do is stick my music in my ears and switch off - that's the joy of treadmills, you can just get on with it and not have to worry about stopping at roads, avoiding pedestrians etc. 

I'm certainly not breaking any records, which is fine by me, I'm not doing it to be a competitor, I'm doing it just because I can.

Is reading a healthy habit? Yes I think so! If it gets you away from a screen then that's definitely good for you - both mentally and physically so that's a win win. My reading has changed quite a bit recently as I'm researching more about art than I am hair at the moment! I'm really enjoying getting a big pile of books and getting a way from the laptop for a while. The weather's been so mild recently I've been reading outside a lot with cups of tea. Wonderful!
