To wrap the shoot up and to inject some energy back into all of us I decided we should have a trash the hair and make up shot!! All the models except Alex (who was off to the gym after the shoot unlike me, who went off to a bar!) wanted to keep their hair and make up on - which I took as a compliment, but Alex was up for it so here's a behind the scenes look at the result!
Phew it's been a crazy week or so! My much promised eyebrow post will be with you all asap, I've had a few technical issues, not with my eyebrows you'll be glad to hear, but with loading up the pictures, so my naked and then dressed brows will be with you soon!
In the mean time a little post about what I've been up to....... so starting off with some VERY exciting news and a big thank you....... You may remember that I mentioned the Vintage Norwich Awards that are coming up soon, well........drum roll........... I have indeed made it to the finals so a massive thanks to those who nominated me *blows many kisses* Norwich is quite petite and is bursting with so much talent that I didn't think I'd get this far so I'm thrilled that I'm in the finals!
So much of what I was doing in 2012 was behind the scenes on shoots and helping women gain their confidence with their vintage inspired make up and hair, so I was sure there wouldn't be much chance, but once lots of people told me they were nominating me, I thought 'what the hell' why not let people know that if they like what I do, they can nominate me for an award, and now here I am in the finals! Honoured to get this far and to be amongst some amazing talent, it's a super celebration of how wonderful Norwich is, so if you'd like to vote for me to win or any other finalists your familiar with then here's the link.
Votes close 22nd February and winners are announced at an awards ceremony being held as part of Norwich Fashion Week on March 11th . This year you can actually buy tickets (£12) to attend the ceremony and an after party, which sounds like it's a) going to be good fun and b) is a perfect excuse to get dress up and drink vino on a school night!
Speaking of fashion week, this week saw a day I've been waiting for, for quite some time! One day myself, Karen of Fabulous Miss K and Stephen of Stephen Plumb Photography got together to discuss some project ideas, and a few coffees and some intense brain storming later, we came up with a couple of amazing projects, one of which was an exhibition as part of Norwich Fashion Week.
So with the idea of editorial glamour in mind, we planned ideas, had more meetings and exchanged dozens of emails! The result, was that on Monday we arrived at Farmer Browns in Norwich (a beautiful, beautiful restaurant which has *the* most amazing rooms upstairs) to make these ideas all happen. I can't show any official pictures until after they've been exhibited but here's a finale behind the scenes shot I took.
I can't wait to see the final shots, I loved styling this shoot, I've spent a long time thinking about how I want the hair and make up to look, researching styles and ideas never feels like work! We're getting together soon to pick the final pictures, which I don't think for a moment will be an easy task! Well done to the entire team for a great shoot.
Stephen's strength is that he is so calm and is brilliantly inclusive with the models, showing them shots along the way, Karen once again put together a fantastic collection of clothes from the local vintage shops of Norwich and her assistant Abi who is the face behind fashion and lifestyle blog Champagne and Lemonade was a great runner and dresser!
Bear with me as I also thank the models (all of whom you will be seeing a lot of during Norwich Fashion Week if you are this way and intend to go to shows and events) so thanks Alexandra Pointer, Amanda Santos, Heather Spanton and Marie Leonard! Thanks also to vintage shops Retreat Vintage, Goldfinches and Prim.
The pictures will be exhibited at Norwich Cathedral on Sunday 10th March as part of the vintage fair being held there. Entry is FREE too so come along if you're in Norwich! I'll also be there offering make up services so if you fancy coming along to say hello, and getting some vintage glamour on, then swing by and see me (more details to follow)
In the evening our exhibition will also be on display at the fashion show, tickets for this cost £12 and go on sale soon so keep an eye on the Facebook page for these to be released. Included in the price is a glass of fizz and a goody bag (who doesn't like those?!) Should be a good evening I think, and the Cathedral is such a beautiful building, I can't think of a better setting.
I'll be floating around in the evening too, so if you see me, do come up and say hi! I'm hoping to get to lots of things during fashion week, and if you follow me on twitter you'll know I'm a bit of a social media addict, so I plan to (signal allowing) do as much live tweeting as possible! So even if you can't make it to these events I'll try and make sure you're all included!
Also this week, a blog post I wrote quite some time ago has been included in the advice section of the Corsets UK blog so if you'd like to read the story of how I lost my steel bones corset virginity and my tips on how to help your corset encounters pleasant the pop on over for a read!
Happy Thursday! Almost the weekend you lovely creatures, hang on in there!
