Day 2 of the Missy Vintage Christmas giveaway and today we have................
A set of stylish little books, in fact there are two sets up for grabs. Perfectly hand bag sized, they are perfect for reading cover to cover or just dipping in and out of for some dreamy style inspiration. Each packed with oodles of photographs, these books may be petite but they are full of fantastic detail.
There are three books in the set so if you are one of the lucky winners your bookshelves will be graced with, The Little Book of Prada by Laia Farran Graves, The Little Book of Schiaperelli AND The Little Book of Chanel by Emma Baxton-Wright.
The Little Book of Channel is the latest in The Little Book series, and Carlton Books have kindly sent me a copy to review. Fancy an peep at what's inside?............ Here's what I thought.
Coco Chanel remains a fashion phenomenon that fashion lovers and creative minds still refer to for inspiration and style tips. This book starts from the early years with quite a personal insight in to her life and what drove her to open her first boutique.
There's some excellent historical details, and some astonishing dresses, that design wise could be worn tomorrow they are so classic. Amongst the many photographs are sketches and illustrations from magazines such as Vogue and Chanel adverts.
There's a very interesting chapter about the war years and Coco's arrest for being a collaborator, which could have been much worse if what's rumoured to be an intervention by high powered figures, possibly even our own Winston Churchill hadn't have happened.
The book continues through the Chanel years looking at the brand, and the branching out in to the fragrance and beauty market. Not just a designer, Coco Chanel was a clever woman, making her fashion house a household name and accessible in some way to us all. For the woman who may not be able to afford a Chanel dress, may at least wear a little Chanel number in the form of perfume.
If can't wait for the giveaway to buy this gorgeous book on Chanel and it would truly make a super gift for anyone who loves fashion and history then The Little Book of Chanel is published by Carlton Books, RRP £12.99, available at www.carltonbooks.co.uk, online and is in all good book stores.
